Feedback Reports

Facility Annual Reports

The participating LTC facilities in TREC are provided with a facility annual report (FAR) as a ‘value-added’ function for the facility administrator and part of the Return On Research Investment (RORI). The FAR was developed to support facility administrators in their role of improving quality of care for residents and work satisfaction for staff by sharing relevant information from the TREC survey.

Topics of interest and relevance were pre-selected by facility administrators for publication in the FAR.  A comparison of wave 1 and wave 2 results for these topics were reported for the individual participating facilities compared to their respective provincial results. By fall 2010 all administrators (overseeing all 36 TREC facilities) had received their site specific reports and responded to an evaluation questionnaire. The majority of administrators were satisfied with the presentation of the TREC data presented in the FAR.

Feedback to Health Care Aides

Throughout the first year of TREC survey data collection, nursing home staff at all levels especially healthcare aides (HCAs) voiced a strong desire to receive information on the results as the study progressed. In keeping with our integrated KT approach, a decision was made to provide feedback to HCA’s following each wave of data collection.

The Feedback Reports, in poster format specific to each facility, compared survey responses from the first year of data collection to the respective provincial data. Delivery of the feedback reports to each unit within participating facilities was conducted in the form of a brief (15-minute, maximum) information session to introduce, explain the purpose and content, and respond to questions about the report. Following the information session the HCA Feedback Reports were evaluated using a short questionnaire focused on content and presentation. The findings will be used to inform the design and content of upcoming feedback reports.

The HCA feedback to all 36 participating facilities in the 3 Prairie Provinces has been competed.
