Pilot Projects
There are three pilot projects within the larger TREC project.
This pilot examines stories currently used in practice by health care aides to share knowledge, and then analyzes the structure and language of those stories. Stories to transmit evidence based practices related to pain management, falls prevention, or behavior management will then be developed. Dr. Malcolm Smith at the Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba is the lead on this pilot.
This pilot focuses on creating materials for use by Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to improve effectiveness and supportiveness of their supervision of Nursing Aides. Over a 6 month period, the usefulness of these materials will be evaluated. Dr. Joanne Profetto-McGrath, Vice Dean, Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta and Dr. Kathy McGilton, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto and Research Scientist at Toronto Rehab lead this pilot.
Developing leadership skills among senior administrators and managers is the goal of this pilot. Coaching materials from the Institute for Healthcare Communication will be adapted to promote effective communication. Dr. Greta Cummings, University of Alberta is the lead on this pilot.
