Joanne Profetto-McGrath
Dr. Profetto-McGrath is a Professor and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Alberta. Currently
her research interests and activities are focused on “Building Provider Capacity in Knowledge Creation, Utilization and Transfer.” One of the primary goals of her program of research is to work with a variety of providers specifically student nurses, registered nurses, clinical nurse educators and clinical nurse specialists to build capacity (knowledge, skills and dispositions). Building capacity will facilitate creation of new knowledge as well as to shape providers' abilities and commitment to use research and share it with colleagues and other health professionals aiming to improve patient care and outcomes. Dr. Profetto-McGrath is the current President Elect of the Canadian Association of Nursing Research and will assume her presidency in July of 2011. She has received several awards for her teaching excellence and is also an award winning author.
